Investigator

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As investigator, your job is to ask and answer questions. You will need to have one comment approved from this post in which you ask at least three great, higher-level questions. For each question you ask, you need to provide your own answer/opinion. The answer needs to include evidence from the text to support your opinion. If the answer to your question is stated directly in the text, your question is too easy, and so it will not be posted. Each question is really more like a paragraph with your explanation of the answer you think is correct. That means that this post requires three big, fat, juicy paragraphs! Plus, you need to complete the second part of the directions.

You will also need to answer one question each from at least three different people. Your answers should definitely use evidence from the text. Make sure to let the group know where your evidence comes from by writing the page and paragraph number. Your responses require multiple sentences. Each response will be a separate comment - one big, fat, juicy paragraph for each answer!

Some of you have asked for some help with analysis and synthesis level questions. Here is a short list to get you started...

If you do not know what the words in the questions mean, use your resources to figure them out!

* What change would you make to solve _____?
* How would you improve _______?
* What might happen if _____?
* Can you elaborate on the reason for _____?
* Can you propose an alternative idea for _____?
* Can you invent _____?
* How would you adapt_____ to create a different _____?
* How would you change or modify the plot?
* Suppose you could _____. What would you do?
* How would you test _____?
* What do you predict will happen if _____?
* Why do you think _____?
* What are the features of _____?
* How is ____ related to _____?
* What is the character's motive for _____?
* What inference can you make from _____?
* What evidence can you find for _____?
* What is the relationship between _____ and _____?
* What ideas might justify the opinion that _____?

Thanks,
~Ms. Vander Velde

Dear Group A Members,

I have some questions for you.

The first question is on page 1. In the book it says that Sam lives in a tree. The tree is really good because it is really warm inside and that it is big enough for Sam. But my question is what if Sam did not live in the tree? Would it be harder to live in the forest? I think it would. If Sam did not live in the tree he might have to live by a rock which would be really cold at night.

My second question is on pages 8 & 9. In the book it said a driver drives the boy to the mountain. Sam later tells the driver that he is running away from home. The driver is okay with it. Do you think that is okay? I don't think it's fine with me. I would follow the boy. Kind of like a spy. I would make sure that everything goes right with him. What do you think?

My last question is on page 16. In the book it said that a man named Bill let Sam in for the night. Would you let a boy in your house? If I were the man I wouldn't. I mean, I don't even know where the boy came from and who he is. So what do you think?

Sincerely,
Vlad

Dear Ms. Rubenzer,
I have three questions. My three questions are... "What might happen if Karana gets another dog, and that dog doesn't survive either? Would karana be happy, or would she be sad, and burst out crying?"I think, that if karana gets another dog, and that dog wouldn't survive it's whole life, Karana would be very sad, and burst out crying., Just like me, when my dog died, at only 12 weeks old, and i burst out crying about it. Here is my second question..." How is Karana related to me?" I think, that Karana is related to me because, both of our families, hunt animals, and both of us, and our families, don't like to hurt or kill animals, but we all have to survive right? Lasst but not least, my last question is... " What is different between karana and her sister?" My ansewer for this question is, that karana doesn't die, but her sister does., and also that, before karan's sister dies, karana gets lost, but her sister doesn't, and tries to find her. Well, those are my three questions, and what are your answers for my questions?
Sincerely,
Anjelica20v

Dear group,

My first question is, How come Jeff says that they don't have a home. If they are staying with there grandmother. I am asking this question because on page one paragraph two the book says, “ Stop wishing,” Jeff grumbled. “ We haven't got a home.” He squinted and slowly aimed, preparing to throw a pebble along the gravel path that led from the front porch of Grandma Briley's house to the road.”

My next question is, How come Grandma Briley scent them away instead of keeping them together so they could still have some family to be around cause eventuality they will get separated from each other. For example page seventy five talks about them on the train. For example on page seventy five paragraph seven and paragraph eight talks about Mike and Frances on the train trying to put out a fire. In paragraph seven the book says, “The conductor threw open the passenger car.
“parks from the train set a brushfire!”
“All able-bodied males are needed to help put it out!” Next in paragraph eight the book says, “Come on!' Mike grabbed Frances's arm and tugged her into the aisle.
“All able-bodied males,'” he wickedly muttered under his breath.
“ That means you, too!”

My last question is, How come all of the children have to get separated? I got this question while I was reading last night I got this question on page 105 paragraph five. The book said, “ Katherine gave Frances a folded sheet of paper. “I wrote down your brothers' and sisters' addresses, and I've given them yours. You can keep in touch with them by letter untell the next time you meet.” She held out a hand to Frances. “Mr Friedrich is eager to get back to his farm, so now would be a good time for you children to say good-bye to one another.”

From,
Marcus

Dear Marcus

Jeff says they don't have a home because there grandma wanted to let them have a better life in the west. How would you feel If you did not have a home? I have this card called what if. It ask lots of questions that say this " what if you where breathing you last breath?" "what if you where eating you last meal?" "what if you you know the winning lottory tickit 1 day before?" What if you had phychy powers?" Then it keeps asking you questions. So Think about it " what if You was homeless?" How would you feel? Once I saw a homeless and then they say that people treat them badly and they get pushed around.
